Build, Fight, Trade & Thinkīuild what ever you want, were you want.įight and protect your assets or Fight for Profit. In general the X Universe has only to offer 4 recurring Activities. Unlike Elite you can Build and own your own Stations and you can Produce your own comodities. you can own and command nearly everything else but you can not swap your ship. The fighting is much easier and more casual like compared to Elite.Īlso you will be restricted to only one Ship. The X Rebirth Universe (including all DLCs) is restricted to 9 Unique Systems (if i have counted correctly). Play the demo and test if XR is the game for you. Thanks in advance guys, I'm considering taking this sale to make the jump into X Rebirth but I decided it would be wiser to first probe the forums and get an idea of what to expect. Modern space sims in general have this problem from what I've seen, does X Rebirth do it better or is it rather more of the same in this matter?ģ) How is combat in X Rebirth? I found combat in E:D rather underwhelming (and somewhat repetitive), is combat in X Rebirth generally enjoyable? And is it rather fast-paced or slow-paced? Is this just my impression or is does the game effectively do it much better than E:D?Ģ) How is the gameplay variety in X Rebirth? In E:D you pretty much have 5/6 activities that you can do, people normally sticking to half of those because they're either the most profitable or less boring. Now from what I've seen of X Rebirth (screenshots etc.) I got the idea that the universe actually has personality and each part of it has its different look and feel. This for me is the ultimate dealbreaker in any space sim. Backgrounds and stars will look the same, stations will look the same and ships being sold will be the same. You can be in 2 different systems half a galaxy away and everything will look exactly the same in both. I would like to ask those who own X Rebirth whether the game would have what I'm looking for in these topics.ġ) The biggest one is that the entire universe looked the same. I own E:D with the DLC and while it kept me entertained for a couple hours I ended up getting bored pretty fast and giving up everytime I went back to it because of a couple of aspects in the game. There is still a few more sections id like to update - like my X3 mod area.Yes i know that one has a campaign and the other is an online sandbox so they aren't exactly comparable, but looking at both simply as space sims I would like to ask a few questions as the latest X Rebirth sale caught my eye. I dont plan on re-working the X-Rebirth site, since this use in-game files to populate the database - a half-way solution, I know but still is a lot easier to update than building a database. So now finally the database has been removed for all x-sites apart from X-Rebirth. I know the X2 and X3 sites arent heavily used areas any-more, but I wanted to update them. The X2 and X3 sites use my newer design sector maps too. The new map also shows sectors containing mines, pirate bases, equipment docks and shipyards, with a little icon at the bottom right of the sector box. This has been rolled out to X2, X3, X3TC and X3AP sites. So I wanted to build a new map using standard HTML. Flash itself isnt supported that well by browsers nowadays. The reason for this is that they used flash. This should be completed now - so now the X2, X3, X3TC and X3AP sites all use in-game files now, but I have still some minor things to fix.ĭuring the process however I noticed the universe maps werent showing correctly. They both had their own challenges, X2 being very old and X3 require more sections (lasers, missiles, shields, wares, etc.). So just recently ive been working on X2 and X3 sites, making them use in-game files too. Those two sites still relied on the old method, the database. The X3TC and X3AP sites were changed over, but the X2 and X3 sites werent. So started the process of changing the x-sites to use in-game files. This was time-consuming process and often lead to inconsistencies, due to how hard it was to create. In the past those sites relied on a database that I built up from various resources. A long time ago I started the process of converting how the X-sites get their data. Its awhile since ive done any updates to the X-sites (X2, X3, X3TC, X3AP), but just recently I had some extra time.
